Thirst
I once had someone describe life to me as a thirst. . .that we are
always in a state of wanting and that this was quite natural.
Although it may be natural, I challenged the thought back with this
simple notion - which drink tastes better, the drink you gulp down
after prolonged periods of thirst, or the one sipped slowly and
enjoyed over time with friends? Of course never having a thirst at
all would be the greatest, but for may of us that is not yet attainable.
The good things in life are infinitely more enjoyable when we avoid
becoming dependent on them. If we see ourselves as desperately
needing something, the fear of losing it prevents us from getting
full benefit from it. Many of life's frustrations come from being
unable to fully enjoy the good things that are already right in front
of us.
The desire to hold on tightly to the things you have can make those
things virtually worthless. Security is not attained by hiding away
from life. Our most enduring form of security is found in knowing
that we can deal successfully and with whatever may happen. Life's
treasures become useless when they remain locked inside a vault of
our own making. What good is it to have anything of value if we must
live in fear of losing it?
Today realize you are not so thirsty, that you have what you seek.
Take the treasure that is your life out into the world and enjoy it.
Focus on the possibilities and not on the fears. The more we think we
need, the more those needs will hold us back. The more we choose to
give and to live, the more good things we'll find coming our way.
Have a beautiful day and hold this thought - Thoughts of distant
waters never quenched anyones immediate thirst.
Peace and Love, Jim
