Letting Go
Good Morning,
Many times in conversations the question of being "selfless" or attempting to dissolve the illusion of self comes up. Many ask how can you be motivated without "self"? or how can you let go when that's all any of us have? There is no singular answer and it's the type of thing or path you have to discover for one's own knowledge. I can put it this way:
We are like children building a sand castle. We embellish it with beautiful shells, bits of driftwood, and pieces of colored glass. The castle is ours, off-limits to others. We’re willing to attack it if others threaten to hurt it. Yet despite all our attachment, we know that the tide will inevitably come in, and sweep the sand castle away. The trick is to enjoy it fully, but without clinging, and when the time comes, let it dissolve back into the sea. This letting go and non-attachment has kindness and intimacy. It feels good to let go and takes courage to know that this is all there is to it.
Have a great day and even if you don't, you still had the day!
Peace and Love, Jim
