Experience
Good Morning,
Many times we see people who seem to be real experts at what they do. No matter what is thrown at them or the direction circumstances take, they always appear able to handle it with grace, knowledge and directness. One may wonder how someone gets to this point, whether it be their personal life, business affairs or their relationships. You might wonder what book they have read or what mentor led them to their skilled ways and it can all be summed up in one word - experience.
Experience is the culmination of many things and unfortunately you can not go and buy it off the shelf. It's the stuff that separates children from adults, great leaders from simple order takers and the wise from the merely informed. The funny thing about experience is that a great deal of it comes from bad judgment, it's just the way the plan unfolds and the lessons are given to us.
So to have experience we need not fear making mistakes or going in wrong directions. What we do need is to be aware of the moments we are in and conscience of the decisions we take so that we can note the experience and learn from it regardless of the outcome. It is through this lens that we can enrich our experience, be present to the lessons of life and develop our pool of resources from which we can make better decisions. Experience is simply the name we give our mistakes.
Have a great day and carry this thought: We are not judged by the number of times we fail, but by the number of times we succeed: and the number of times we succeed is in direct proportion to the number of times we fail, learn and begin again, so is there ever any real failure?
Peace and Love, Jim
