Partners

Good Morning,

I have had many discussions with spouses who feel they may be on a different path than their partners and this can be a difficult moment in couples lives together. Many times one partner is not happy with their place in life, or the roles they play in their jobs or day to day activities. During these times it is important to remember that all things pass, but more so it is important to make sure that we are the reality check our spouses may need to either overcome their viewpoint or show them a better way. Awareness of the temporality of life is a truth we often forget when we become confused. A caring and diligent partner can often startle us back into clarity, but thats takes tender mindfulness on both parties side.

Life offers frequent opportunities to interrupt our own suffering and the suffering of others, but unless something (or someone) wakes us up from our preoccupations, we often miss that chance.

Have a beautiful day and remember this: many couples are very much like people rushing to catch an airplane; once aboard, they turn into passengers. They just sit there.

Peace and Love, Jim

I'll agree with you on the "once on board, they turn into passengers. They just sit there." I was actually talking about this with some friends about how it seems so funny to look back at how we use to act when first dating. Looking back, the silly little things of "puppy love" really are those "little things" that really do matter in a relationship... however, those little things are what we tend to forget once we get deep into the relationship. I am aware of these things that I tend to not do so often, and I am trying to get them back in our relationship.

Yes unfortunately in our society many people simply want to be passengers. This is considered the life of the wealthy and why many people think money will solve their problems. I can hire someone to worry for me, clean my house, make my dinner, and fix my relationships. The reality is that we have everything we need to be happy, we simply must work on it, which many people would rather not do.

Love is the same way. It's easy when we first fall in love, we do things because we want to, but to stay in love requires more attention and effort as time goes on and tahts where many couples fall apart.

Congrats on recognizing these things in your own life (that's the battle) and taking steps to ensure that you grow together and not apart!

Peace my friend!
